Parkin's Dollar Point Rustic Cabin

Filtered lake views can be enjoyed from this comfortable four bedroom, two bath vacation rental home in prestigious Dollar Point. There are two living areas in this large home, with open beam ceilings separated by a large stone fireplace. Each living area has a flat screen TV. There is access to the spacious and sunny deck from both living areas where you can relax in the sun or catch a glimpse of the lake. Large garage, plenty of parking. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a large dining room table. The master bedroom can be found on the top floor just off of the dining area. It has a Queen size bed and a full bathroom. Downstairs you will find the garage access and a laundry room. The first of three guest bedrooms has a Queen size bed. The second guest bedroom has a Double-sized bed. The third guest bedroom is furnished with a sleeper sofa bed. There is also a full bath on this level. There is Wifi at this house. Short drive to Tahoe City for fine dining, shopping and entertainment. Good location for winter skiing with nearby Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows and Homewood ski resorts.
*This is an older home in Tahoe there is taxidermy on the walls and spiders love it(no matter how much we clean), if you are not ready for this experience please do not rent this house.

***Dollar Point recreation amenities: beach, pool, tennis courts, playground are not available to renters, unless rental stay is for 31 nights or more which will require a signed lease agreement, $5000 deposit and $50 processing fee. Please contact us for more details.

All of our rentals come with fully equipped kitchens; most kitchens do not have pantry items due to wildlife concerns. We provide all linens and towels; most units have beach towels as well. There is a washer and dryer in every rental. Every unit has Wi-Fi. There is NO A/C, this is not commonly found in Tahoe, there are fans.

  The house is in a convenient location just 7-10 minutes from the business district. It's a good size, and has a nice view of the water from the living spaces. The kitchen had everything we needed as far as cooking and dining. For the cost, it's a good deal and I would stay again. My only suggestion is to bring your own pillows. I like to have a minimum of two, and those provided weren't in good shape.

  The house fit our needs and was close enough to Squaw Valley for the race. House and furnishings much older than expected and the animal heads on the walls were disturbing, you should consider taking them down and maybe upgrading the carpet and the TV by fireplace. Also check carpet around showers, looks like there could be mold around the edges under. Loved access to fireplace & firewood - awesome. Consider relocating grill to the deck.

  WE really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was well equipped with kitchen, linens etc. LOVED the sauna and especially loved the retro decos. Great neighborhood to take walks down to the lake!! Only complaint was the master bed. Not very comfy. Other beds were great!!!

  The house was a great fit for us. Dated but all that is coming back. We have an elderly man with us and the stairs up we’re a like rocky (no pun intended) for him to get up. Needed a hand rail or just normal stairs. The house was comfortable and spacious for the 5 of us. It was very nice to view the lake while eating and relaxing on the deck.

  This vacation rents was in a great location, but needs serious help. As some other reviews mention there is carpet everywhere even around the toilets. The carpet seems original because you can feel the grease radiating from the floor. There was popcorn and garbage all over the couch and living room floor when we arrived. I brought my 6 month old with us and I couldn’t even set her down anywhere the entire stay because the entire cabin was dirty. Dishes in the drawers and cabinets were put away dirty, there were no hand towels in the entire cabin. Wo youd wash your hands and have no where to dry them. Old food in the fridge and cabinets.

  While the house itself is certainly rustic , it borders on way too outdated , thought I was in the Brady bunch house . There were no kitchen towels , we had to buy toilet paper too . I think the most important facts are old family photos and dead animal heads should probably go , as well as giant , dust fake flower baskets . The cupboards had some oil spill that got on everything we put up there . I’m sorry this is such a negative review , some of the good points were a beautiful peek at the lake and we really enjoyed the fireplace . I think with a thorough cleaning and removing personal 80’s photos it would greatly improve !

  Super cozy house! As detailed in other reviews, don't expect a modern interior with cutting edge amenities. In fact, there's an intercom system in every room that is definitely antique from the 60s or 70s - and it still works!
  
  Deck was an incredible place to lounge in the evenings and stargaze. Love the quiet neighborhood (we could hear the occasional partying at other places) and the proximity to the lake. Not really a recommended walk though. Getting there isn't bad, it's downhill. It's the walk back that might take a while. There's a nearby bakery that is wonderful and the ride to Tahoe City is super easy. There's even a 7-11 around the corner for stuff like contact lens solution (my sister forgot hers).
  
  One thing I should mention though is that we had my 87 year old Mom with us and the stairs were a challenge. I don't recommend the house for anyone that might have physical challenges.
  
  Also, one evening we watched a bear walk up to the bear box and open it up. It was shut and closed, I don't know how the bear did it. Luckily, we didn't have any garbage in there, but it happened.
  
  Overall, I would definitely go back. It was a comfy place and I had a great time there with my family.

  We loved our stay at Parkin's Dollar Point cabin. The home was extremely spacious and while not updated in any way, was perfect for a family with dogs, such as ours. It's a quick walk down to the beach on a summer day and also excellent driving location to Tahoe City and Tahoe Vista. The large deck was nice for cooling off at night with a bbq'ed dinner. Can't wait to go back soon : )

  We have been renting this property for more than 20 years so we know and love the "rustic"ness. It is always a little unclear what it comes with but we always end up buying TP, soap, dishwashing soap and other essentials. Dollar Point Home Owners Association added a very annoying feature this year with their amenities "wristbands" which daily you have to go get and wear in order to use the pool, lake tennis courts, etc. Really?, a high end resort where you have to where a fluorescent green wristband all day? Hope they come up with a better system next year. We didn't have to pay for these because we made our reservations before the policy was instituted, however, next year if they keep the same system ($10/person/day) this will add for our family and additional $300-400 to the rental which may cause us to try a different development. All in all we had a great time as always.

  Tahoe is beautiful and this home has a nice deck with a partial view of the lake -- which we enjoyed. Good location and kitchen stocked with necessary utensils. However, house is not updated. Living room has old, stained chair & curtains labeled with PostIt stating they don't work. Bathrooms have old carpeting, toilet paper in tissue box rather than facial tissues, no bath mat, only enough hot water for two showers. Some might find the huge mounted animal heads off-putting. Not great for those seeking a nice, clean, updated, well-maintained place to stay.

    The house is pictured and described exactly as it is, there is no inference that is has any updates. It is an old house with lots of space and a lake view and is priced to reflect this. It is a rustic Tahoe cabin. It is clean and comfortable.

  Our second stay at this house was just as good as the first. Beds are super comfortable,it's large and has a nice layout. Master BR on main floor, 3 BRs and Bath below. VERY quiet and peaceful. Winter view of the glistening lake. Close drive to Squaw where we skied, but not as remote. Great location to get to restaurants in Tahoe City and Incline Village, as well as points south.

  We have been renting the Parkin House for 20 years and the only complaint is that it oftentimes is not equipped with even the basics. Kitchen garbage bags, toilet paper and dish soap had to be purchased on the first day. Also, the garbage was completely full from the week previous and not picked up till Thursday of our week. All else was great, classic Tahoe!

  This is a perfect location with filtered views of the lake. The home itself is very dated and in need of some TLC. Only one person could shower per couple of hours due to lack of hot water. We stayed 4 days yet charged for 5. Likely I won't be a return renter.
